Hole in the sky

Been jumping to conclusions?

Been jumping to conclusions?

Now that show 47 is “in the can” as they say in the film industry (or the flash drive) we are diligently working on show 48.  The early release of show 47 will be available soon and the regular release not long after that (hopefully, the second one is beyond our control).   One of the subjects that we discussed, of course, is gaming journalism.

There are several lines of thought on this, of course, and no one entry here could cover them all.  Keen from Keen and Graevs once pointed out on our show (an early appearance, not this last one) that his blog site is an opinion – his opinion.   He is, of course, correct.   As we discussed on the last show, simply having WordPress added to your web site does not give one “Carte Blanche” to say whatever you please with any reasonable degree of credulity.

Some while back it was our pleasure to have Mr. Colin Campbell formerly the editor of Edge Online, with whom we discussed the changing nature of media.  News and discussion that we used to go to magazine for, he pointed out, are now available instantly online.  Lately we have seen many magazine migrate from the racks in book stores to the .com addresses online.  With that, however, comes a bit more responsibility – at least if you expect anyone to read what you have to say for any length of time.

I know in my own case the hole in the sky that the kitty above is poking her head through is made my the times I have jumped to conclusions. And believe you me, more than one game journalist has followed me right on through.

Now don’t go mistaking this for my having gone soft. There are some issues that deserve a good sound smaking over the knuckles with a metal ruler – issues such as “booth babe harrassment” and “unbaptized baby killing achievments” in video games.  In the end, however, anyone who puts words to virtual page should keep in mind what has become known as “ceiling kitty” around the internet – if nothing else it will save having to eat the occassional heaping helping of crow.

See you online,

Julie Whitefeather
