Well, I am sure the F2P model worked on someone's spreadsheet before development was monetized.

For my money (and at those prices it won't be) if the game was too expensive to support a "free 2 play" business model without trying to gouge the consumer than they shouldn't have gone that route. As popular as the game was before the did this "bait and switch" it would have easily supported the subscription model. As it is, they have gone from beloved to hated in just about 24 hours. And from where they are sitting now, it will be VERY difficult to recover. Customers, like trust, is something that is easy to loose and hard to get back once you have lost it.

It's a shame that some of these things are coming to light right now for Allods. I think for the moment, everyone just needs to calm down and see what develops. Hopefully there is some breakdown in communication between the publisher, developer and actual development team and since (I know) there is a little more going on in the background, I am holding my judgments for now.

It was a very expensive game to make (for F2P MMO Standards) and a very complex development life cycle for a game project for several reasons.

Then again, I miss my former Soviet enemy and am as giddy as school girl at the prospect of Ivan coming back into play, invading my past time with his heavy handed approaches. I find it ironic that it's a purely Capitalist ploy this time around.
