Thar’ be womin in that port

One of the more unusual news items to cross our virtual news desk (and there are some odd ones) is the fate of the now defunct, adjunct, and dumped by the legal system site – The Pirate Bay.  The Pirate Bay site itself has gone on to better (and we assume legal) uses.

But what of the people who created The Pirate Bay?

A recent article over at Gamepolitics.com tells the tale of the how the creators of The Pirate Bay are trying to rise from the grave by way of a dating service. Yes – you heard right.  The Free2Play…er…free service is to be called “Pirate Dating”. Here is a quote from the article (below) you can read the rest of it here.

“Last but not least- the ‘Social Proximity Gauge’, Pirate Date’s innovative algorithm engine, Calculates thousands of details, giving you a tool you can trust in measuring how close you are to people you find interesting. Well, at least no one can go to jail for this site…” – Gamepolitics.com

Well, that didn’t take long. They have the site back up and running with a note that says they took it down voluntarily and not by force. Heh, these guys are ballsy, I’ll give them that.

It appears that it is harder to sink a pirate ship than one would think…

“The defendants have appealed against the verdict and the judge was accused of bias. On 17 May 2010, due to an injunction against their bandwidth provider, the site was taken offline. However, access to the website was later restored with a message laughing off the injunction on their front page.”

    Thanks for the comment.
