“The latest round of player scams” – sounds like a phrase about Eve Online but it isn’t – it’s about Elder Scrolls Online. Players who wish to have characters that are vampires are werewolves, as they could in Skyrim, can do so online…but it will cost you. Not because of anything Bethesda did (maybe for something they didn’t do though). There being no way to start the quest line leading to becoming a werewolf or vampire other than happening on a rare spawn, veteran players have been “selling” werewolf and vampire bites. The obvious scam is when the unsuspecting mark pays up (up to 50,000 gold) the scammer takes the money and walks away. Even when the deal is legitimate the player doing the biting is selling something that you would normally get for free….but only at a certain place, at a certain time of night, on a specific night.
And to add insult to injury, veteran players selling the bites wait for the rare spawns and kill them in an effort to continue the ability to continue the scam; this last part I wouldn’t have believed if I hadn’t seen it.
See you online.
