Normality Level 1 established

“We are now cruising at a level of two to the power of twenty-five thousand to one against and falling, and we will be restoring normality just as soon as we are sure what is normal anyway.”

― Douglas Adams, The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy

Hello Friend. How long has it been? Since last July I see. Wow – seven months. Where has the time gone? To quote the Grateful Dead “What a long strange trip it’s been.” Net Neutrality is out

…but maybe not down for the count as 21 states sue the fcc…

…and California passes tells the FCC just what they can due with it and passes their own net neutrality law.

After the furor over Bethesda’s Creation Club it turned out to be just as much to do about nothing as Star Trek Discovery. More than one person is still bemoaning “Klingons don’t look like that in my universe).

PC gaming launching headlong into what I call the “greed to play”model. Games like Star Wars Battlefront II (or should I say “Battlefront Redux” since the latest version is EA’s attempt to redeem the previous failure of the same name) are a good example. Companies that insist on having not only their cake and eat it too, but yours as well as they charge full price for a game and then hit you up for microstransactions after you plunked down Sixty dollars. The problem here, of course, is that someone forgot the “free” in “free to play” (as if the business model for android games hasn’t heaped enough indignity on free to play).

…and speaking of microtransactions, Amazon paid back 70 million dollars in microtransactions, but certainly not out of their own generosity.

But not to worry. Since Jeff Bezos has outstripped the earnings ability of Bill Gates and is now the richest man in the world, I am sure he can take the 70 million out of his coffee money.

On a much larger scale, it seems that 2017 was the second warmest year since 1880 when reliable record keeping began, trailing only 2016

…it’s a good thing that global warming doesn’t exist or I might be a bit worried.
On a personal level I seem to have ridden out the rough times in the last six months and we here at our place have managed to establish normality – at least for now.
See you online
